Brett Renk
Renk is now offering Cruiser seed treatment on soybeans, as well as on corn. CruiserMaxx® Beans combines Cruiser® (insecticide) with ApronMaxx® (fungicide). A safener has also been added to extend the window Cell-Tech can be in contact with the seed treatment before planting.
CruiserMaxx® Beans offers soybean growers unmatched early-season and disease protection against aphids, bean leaf beetles, seedcorn maggots and wireworms. Under heavy pressure, research has shown a 10-14 bushel yield gain when using CruiserMaxx® Beans versus untreated seed.
Although this protection is systemic (absorbed into the plant giving extended protection), it will not last all season long. Heavy infestation of late season insects will still require foliar spraying for control.
ApronMaxx is the fungicide treatment Renk has been using on its treated beans. It has excellent control of Phytophthora, Pythium, Rhizoctonia, Fusarium, and other soil borne diseases.
Renk is also offering Poncho 600 treatment on corn seed. This combines four separately registered products for corn – Poncho, Apron XL®, Maxim® and Dynasty®. Like the soybean package, Poncho 600 treatment gives a broad spectrum of early season insect and disease control, resulting in better stands and yield.
Poncho protects against wireworms, white grubs, seedcorn maggots, black cutworm, chinch bug and flea beetles. Apron XL, Maxim and Dynasty are fungicides that control four major fungi groups, which include Fusarium and Phytium.
The price structure for these seed treatment is as follows:
CruiserMaxx® Beans– $9.50 per 50 lbs bag
Poncho 600 – $15 per 80,000 kernel bag.
